“I am really excited to have Alex Knost in our first episode because you could watch Al tie his fucking shoe and it would be entertaining. He just has that sort of energy, and at the same time a lot of people really hate him. The first trip I went on with Al was to this super industrial, West Oakland-feeling port town in southern Mexico…When I drove down to meet up with him to work on our show I was planning on getting a hotel room and just cruising with him for a day or two, but he immediately talked me into staying at his house for a week. I didn’t realize it at the time, but that meant we would sleep about 2-3 hours a night and pretty much be on the run all day long. He seriously lives off of 7-11 coffee, booze, and his beloved Pacific Ocean.”
