Recently, I got this thought; do people still send postcards? As a kid I sent plenty of letters, postcards, Christmas cards and birthday cards, now only if I happen to see a beautiful postcard when I’m at a new destination. During Christmas and on birthdays, I usually call, or send an email or a message on Facebook.
How about you? Do you still send postcards to friends and family?
A few weeks ago I photographed some of my old postcards to save as a memory.

There is a site called postcrossing.com which is reviving the love of sending and receiving postcards. You simply register and get to receive (and send) cards to people you’ve never met from all over the world. Soem registrants have sent / received 1000s.

So weird, I recently posed the same questions.

To be honest, I do buy them and end up just collecting them instead of sending them. I do want to get in the habit of sending them more often.

I don’t most of the time - I usually use some form of electronic communication, although there is something romantic about hand-written messages.

I always send postcards… Send me your address and I’ll send one when I travel!

I’ve started using an online service which allows you to upload your holiday pics and send them as postcards. It’s particularly good for sending snaps of the kids to grandparents! We blogged about it here - after a shaky start, it now works perfectly. http://blog.mrandmrssmith.com/2008/08/bespoke-postcards/

@Mark, Thanks for the tip. I’ve never heard about that site before.
@transienttravels, Yes really. What a coincidence.
I also often end up collecting postcards rather than sending them.
@Anil, You’re right about that.
@Taylor, Good idea!
@Tamara, I just checked out http://www.ppme.co.uk/. Will definitely use this service the next time I’m traveling. What a cute picture you sent from NY by the way!
@Mircea, I will aspire to do the same
