Have You Ever Been to Barcelona?

922852 62236724 Have You Ever Been to Barcelona?

I have to admit, Barcelona is still on my list of places to visit. Once I’m there and have explored as much as possible of the city, I’m sure I will want to see more of Spain as well. According to the Swedish travel magazine Vagabond, there are nine wonderful detours you can make from Barcelona: Teatro Museo Dalí in Figueres, Costa Brava, Girona, Vall de Nuria, the vineyard district Penedés, the famous restaurant El Bulli, Tarragona, the nature phenomenon in Montserrat, and the classic seaside resort Sitges.

If you like the idea of visiting Barcelona, read You Haven’t Been to Barcelona Recently? Odd at WOWOWOW (The Women on the Web). The writer Mary Wells gives honest praise and criticism on, among others, the minimalist Hotel Arts, Hotel Omm, the exciting Moo restaurant, Hotel Majestic, Hotel Claris, and how to make the most out of your stay. She ends by suggesting two great books to read before you travel.

Barcelona is the city is among my “first places to visit” list because of architecture that was created by Gaudi. I really want to see it not only on pictures.

Thanks for such a great blog! Be sure, I subscribe for it :)

The architecture in Barcelona is truly amazing. I hope you’ll have the opportunity to visit someday soon.

You have a great blog as well by the way, I especially like the hotel article.

I’ve been there once, for a weekend. Amazing city. You’ll need AT LEAST one week to visit the city, with a guide. After that, you can explore the city on your own. Or so I’ve been told… I liked it so much that I promised myself I’d come back and this time for at least 15 days.

Yeah, the wavely arquitecture of Gaudi is there, and that big church which name I can’t remember right now, and Salvador Dali expositions… It’s all there. The thing that amazed me the most was the Cathedral. You just have to go there to understand what I mean by on of the most beautiful thing on top of the Earth. Really.

    Claudia, Thanks for the tips.

I think you mean La Sagrada Familia by Gaudi. Here’s a link if anyone’s interested http://www.sagradafamilia.org/eng/index.htm

The architecture in Barcelona is truly amaazing! I studied abroad here and I have been lucky enough to be able to keep coming back! If you have the chance i highly recommend it, as it is one of my favorite European cities. It has a great combination of food, art, music, and night life. Everytime I come to Barcelona, I rent an apartment through Barcelona-home, I love it, because it makes me feel like less of tourist, because i go “home” everynight!

Hi laura, I can understand that Barcelona is one of your favorite cities in Europe. Almost can’t wait to visit myself! Thanks for mentioning Barcelona-home. Will make sure to check it out.

By the way, have you seen L’auberge espagnole (The Spanish apartment) which was shot in Barcelona? I’ll probably rent it tonight. LOVE the sequel Les poupées russes and just have to see the first one too.

No, I have not seen the movie. But I have hear about it, and I have been meaning to watch it! Let me know how the movie is. Anything that involves Barcelona, I fall in love with it!

Once I saw the cover to the DVD I realized I’d already seen it… a few years ago. Have absolutely no idea how I could forget having seen it ’cause it was really a great movie. Rather than writing a whole page of how great it was, I’ll just say watch it! :)

    Hi,
I’m from BCN and I live here, and I’d like to tell you sth about “the detours you have to do”. Well, many of those places are more than 100 km from BCN and for themselves, they deserve a more accurate visit. Barcelona itself has too many visits to do : Gothic tour, Gaudí’s, several museums (MNAC is an essential one, you can visit Montjuic too), Ramblas, etc. If someone of you need information about BCN, please tell me.

Hi Imma, You’re probably right. Better to discover Barcelona properly first and then visit those other places. Perhaps a road trip would be a good idea!? Anyway, I’ll let you know if I ever need any information. Thanks for commenting!

For those who want to go to a great sand beach close to Barcelona I would advise them to go to Sitges. Cheers. Tom

Thanks for the suggestion, Tom. I’ve heard great things about Sitges.

Barcelona is a beautiful city that I will never forget. With its buildings and small alleyways. I go once a year for my vacation. I absolutely love Barcelona. Again I found a great idea for cheap housing through Private Homes http://www.private-homes.com/portal/en/home, which rents apartments in the heart of Barcelona. This allows me to enjoy Barcelona with a cheap budget.

Hi Samantha, Many thanks for the recommendation. Now I have a lot of housing options to choose between for whenever I visit Barcelona. And living in the center of the city sounds preferable.
