Cycle Instead of Using Public Transportation

Bicycles at Malmö Railway Station
As long as it’s not pouring outside, cycling brings a lot of advantages — fresh air, free exercise, no need to check timetables, you’ll see things you’d probably miss from a crowded bus, you can stop whenever you want… the list goes on. I often find cycling a better choice than public transportation, especially when arriving in a new city.
Geneva, Zurich, Strasbourg, Vienna and Malmö are some of the destinations I have explored from the saddle of a bicycle. Many European cities now cater for the increasing demand from tourists and locals. In Paris, cycle enthusiasts have made use of the city’s self-service bicycle-lending program Vélib since July. Lyon launched a smaller version two years ago. Hopefully more cities will follow in their footsteps.

This is what I have been doing here in my country for the past 1 and a half year now and I thoroughly enjoy it One objection I often hear though is that pollution is very high and cycling will jeopardize one´s health. While it is true, I usually choose side roads where less vehicles pass and I also avoid following smoke belching vehicles.
I imagine that in your country you don´t have much of this problems as you have better control of your environment, yet going by bicycle is still unbeatable if you want to enjoy the views all around.
