Known as “Glada Hudik” (“Happy Hudik”), a term originating in 19th century because of the town’s open and friendly people, Hudiksvall is located inside a bay on the east coast of Sweden, along the 200 km long Jungrukusten – The Maiden Coast.

Hudiksvall’s archipelago, whose life have been dominated by agriculture and fishing for centuries, makes for an ideal outing in summer with scenic coastal villages and water-based activities. The Tourist Bureau can advice on boat communications and possibilities.

Other popular things to see in Hudiksvall itself include Fiskarstan in the harbor, characterized by wooden houses where fishermen lived throughout winter, the regional museum Hälsinglands Museum, Lillfjarden bay, and Galgberget mountain for hiking.
