Why I Love Mountains
Riding in chair lifts.
Snowboarding.
Skiing — preferably off-piste and without a rucksack.
Beautiful alp views when skiing.
Misty mornings in villages surrounded by mountains.
Mountains in Austria and Germany remind me of Sound of Music.
You feel humbled by their magnificence.
When you’re high enough, you can look down on the clouds.
The prospect of paragliding.
The combination of mist and snow-covered trees and mountains.
The thrill of skiing past ”Danger’ signs.

Thanks so much for sharing this stunning mountain photography! Awesome post on mountain love! My mountain love runs deep too – I love their wildness, freedom, beauty, soulfulness…

There are so many aspects to love about mountains. This post doesn’t nearly cover them all!
Love your photos Erica! My favorite is #5 where the sunlight catches on the mountain.

I like that picture too. Claudia Meyer has a real gift for capturing great shots.
Great photo essay. There are days I long for snow capped peaks now that I live by the sea and in a place where a small hill is called a mountain. When I showed it to my family, they kept asking me if that was really what people called a mountain…We grew up in the Rockies.
Thanks, Patricia. It’s funny how people can have so different perceptions!
