Why I Love Winter

Since we will get -18 degrees Celsius here in Gothenburg tomorrow (apparently), I need to remind myself of some reasons to love winter.

    Beautiful photos Erica! Beautiful.

Ironically, my post is about not liking winter that much.

Thanks. These photos weren’t taken by me though :)

Gotta check out your post then. There are lots of reasons to love winter, but I fully understand why people may not like it.

Great post & photos Erica. I love the cold crisp days you get in Scandinavia – so long as there is a bit of sunlight. I would much rather that than a cloudy, grey day.

Thanks, Rob. And same here. A clear blue sky and sunshine is preferable!

That’s understandable :) (Just checked out your ‘the blogger’ page.) I bet most people from Brazil prefer sun and warm weather before snow and cold temperatures!

And I can admit, even though I LOVE winter and snow, there have been times when I wished I was living somewhere warmer… like Brazil, California or maybe India. I’m glad I don’t have anything that ‘ties me down’ here in Sweden.

I loved reading this post! Perked me up instantly! A few days ago, our hot water pipes froze over. Not good. Its fixed now but it was a few days of ice-cold washings *LOL*. Gotta love Sweden!

They froze over!? Must have been one of those incredibly cold days. Good you could fix them eventually! :)

I agree with your winter thoughts. I love it that clementines are the sweetest this season! I eat a whole carton of those! And a cup of hot tea…or soup…mmmmmmmm. And the prospect of spring…gorgeous anticipation!

Yeah, it’s easy to eat one clementine after the other! They’re so small, sweet and not that filling!

Thanks, I really enjoyed your musings on why you love winter. You reminded me that it’s important to embrace the climate wherever I’m living. Scandinavians are brilliant at making themselves cosy with life’s simplest things in the harshest weather.

I totally agree about embracing whatever climate you have. No point in complaining about the weather! Thanks for your comment!

Sometimes I love the warm weather of Australia but at times I regret the lack of distinct seasons as seen in the more northern countries of Europe, Asia and North America.

I can understand that. If I lived in Australia permanently, I’d probably miss having well-defined seasons as well. But that’s what travel is for!
