The beauty of the mountains is obvious in Chamonix, an alpine town in the French Alps near the Swiss border. It’s a Mecca for skiing and adventure sports like rock climbing, hiking, paragliding and ice-climbing.
The times we went there we either travelled by car or by bus with UCPA, a French organisation specialising in winter-and summer adventures in France. For people overseas, Chamonix is easy accessed from Geneva-Cointrin International Airport (88km), Lyon-St-Exupery International Airport (220km) and the TGV main lines from Paris.
