I went to Miami South Beach in December and did not think much of the place. In fairness this was low season and there were roadworks everywhere but it still did not wow me. Your third picture is nice but there are better beaches/places in the world.
Maybe I was a little harsh about south beach as it was low season when I visited. I took a look at the top 10 beaches link and they all look beautiful. I was surprised not to see Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands, Australia – I thought that was very nice, its sand is 99.8 % silica too and squeaks under foot! do a Google search.
I was just a bit surprised to read that you didn’t think much of the place. Friends of mine who’ve been there (and other travelers I’ve met online) all said they loved it. But perhaps they visited during high season. I can understand if you got an entirely different view as it was low season. Whether it’s high or low season surely makes a difference to the atmosphere and feeling of a place.
Whitsunday Islands sounds like paradise! If I do my own list of top beaches in the world, I will make sure to include Whitehaven beach.
Wow, the second photo is truly a “wish you were here” shot!

@Alex, Thanks for sharing your view. I myself haven’t been to Miami yet, but am sure I will like South Beach. Here’s a pretty good article on the top 10 best beaches in the world http://www.trifter.com/Practical-Travel/Top-10-Best-Beaches-in-the-World.148905
