Inspired by Jen Laceda’s A Suitcase of my Favourite Books I decided to make my own. Obviously, Jen can take all the credit for the title to this post.

Erica – a great collection and thank you for listing us!
I have just finished an amazing book called ‘Shantaram’ by Gregory David Roberts – an amazing depiction of India by an Australian escaped convict who, among other things sets up a free hospital in one of the Bombay slums. Highly recommended fro anyone travelling to India!

You’re welcome! And thanks for your recommendation. I’ve wanted to read ‘Shantaram’ for a long time now. Before I travel to India – whenever that will happen – I will take time for it!

This is a great idea for a photo collection and a blog post. Maybe I ought to do the same with some of my favourite books. I like this idea, and the photographs really stand out great on the page.

Great list! I’ll have to add some of these to my to-read list, especially some of the most gastronomic ones! One travel book I’m obsessed with and recommend is The Art of Travel – have you read it?

Love your post and the idea! I’m a big reader and traveler.

I echo the recommendation for ‘Shantaram’ by Gregory David Roberts, his voice of the friend, Prabaker, is wonderful. I also really connected with Alice Steinbach’s “Without Reservations,’ an account of her life abroad.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

Thanks, Dee. And thanks for mentioning “Without Reservations”. I just read the description on Amazon. I like the idea of writing postcards to herself from herself. Just added the book to my “want to read” list!
