Between June 2011 and January 2012, I traveled through Sweden with the intention to discover more of my home country. I focused my trip on larger towns and cities with stays in hotels, hostels, B&Bs and guesthouses along the way.
The route began in Motala by the shore of Lake Vattern and continued south-east to the coast, along the east coast down to Malmo, up the west coast to Trollhattan, across the country’s width followed by a detour inland, then back to the east coast for a trip north to Lulea. A flight via Stockholm plus train and bus rides led to Jonkoping by Lake Vanern, which was one of the last stops of my journey.
Throughout July and the beginning of August, I will share photo-based entries from some of the cities and places I visited, much of it from a tourist or first-time visitor’s point of view with suggestions of sights to see, things to do, and where to stay.
