Where I Have Lived

blandat 001 400x300 Where I Have Lived

The post My Cities / 2007 by Taylor Davidson inspired me to make a list of places where I have lived so far. A few nights in a hotel don’t count, only a consecutive stay of at least one month.

Halmstad, Sweden

Frösakull, Sweden

Stockholm, Sweden

Borensberg, Sweden

Mayville, MI, USA

Montbonnot-Saint-Martin, France

Seefeld, Zurich, Switzerland

Notting Hill, London, England

Värnhem, Malmö, Sweden

Vasastaden, Linköping, Sweden

Landala, Gothenburg, Sweden

Guldheden, Gothenburg, Sweden

Where in the world have you lived?

Where else? I’d love to live in Paris (at least for a month or two), New York, Portland (I feel very drawn to that city for some reason), Bangkok, Buenos Aires, a wine region in France or Italy, Greece… and I’ve always wanted to live in California. Although… I can imagine myself living in lots of other places as well – like New Zealand. It doesn’t look like an island you would want to leave in the first place!

Have been a wanderer for many years. Born in Melbourne, Australia, grew up in Sydney, then lived in Auckland, New Zealand, then Cirencester, England, then London, England, then moved back to Melbourne in the late 80s. Lived mostly in Melbourne but had a stint in Leongatha, country Victoria.

Burdur, Turkey was probably the most different place I’ve lived – I was doing my military service so the lifestyle itself was completely different!

Must have been a great experience. I googled Burdur and found this video http://www.metacafe.com/watch/137132/veiws_from_burdur_turkey/ Looks like a nice place… And I just read on Wikipedia that the region has many lakes, including Salda Lake which is considered one of the world’s cleanest lakes. Interesting.

Th surrounding area is very nice. I didn’t know the lake was one of the world’s cleanest, interesting. The have great places to eat and picnics along the water too. The manager of a small restaurant sat with us during out meal, quite a character he was :)

Sounds good. That reminds me of a blog post idea I got a few days ago: memorable characters/persons I’ve met while traveling.

Wow, I’ve lived in hmm….one place? I bet I couldn’t get you to name your favourite place? Where did you live for the longest?

One place? Nothing wrong with that! And you’re right, you probably couldn’t. But if you’d asked about my top three, I’d say Montbonnot, Seefeld and Notting Hill. I lived in Borensberg the longest though (between ages 7 to 18, and a few short stints in between trips). A good place for kids to grow up in, although once I got older I really missed living in a big city.
